Doorstep Delivery: Sleep Number® FlexFit™ 1 Smart Adjustable Base

Before You Start

  • We recommend having two people complete set-up.
  • If you haven't already, download the Sleep Number® app from your device's app store.
  • Register your smart bed after downloading the Sleep Number® app. You will need your order number and the email address you used when you ordered your bed to complete registration.

Materials List

  • Mattress
  • Smart Control System
  • Remote (if purchased)
  • FlexFit™ smart adjustable base (King size bases will have two pieces, and Queen size bases will have one piece)

Set Up your Adjustable Base

  1. One person holds base in place while the other installs legs.
      1. Press metal button on leg and slide leg into frame receiver.
      2. Stop at preferred height setting and twist to lock metal button into place.
      3. Remove rubber caps if on carpeted surface.

  2. Lean base on lower legs for stability and check that all legs are the same height.
      • WATCHOUT: If legs are set to a lower height, bases may not be as stable. Have a partner hold each base while you check the leg heights and connection points.

  3. Cut orange ties and be careful not to cut black wire bunch tape.

  4. Check underbed connections while base is on side.

  5. Route smart mattress connections through opening on each side

  6. Place adjustable bases down into desired location and use the opening on base as handle for adjusting.
  7. Plug power cord into grounded electrical outlet.
  8. Install base frame link at both head and foot (only on king base). Starting at the head of the bed. Use your body to hold up deck panels up while installing the link. Align link with openings on base and snap into place and repeat at the foot of the bed.

  9. At the Sleeper left foot, secure Smart Control System (SCS) to frame by placing the Smart Control System Bracket on frame.

  10. Route wire harness along the base using the Velcro straps to secure the harness to the metal frame.

  11. Connect base power cords.

  12. Complete wire & hose connections into SCS
    1. Sleeper Right Hose (Blue)
    2. Sleeper Left Hose (White)
    3. Left Side Wire Harness (Blue)
    4. Right Side Wire Harness (White)
    5. Power cord into SCS (w/ small green wire)

  13. Check the lights on the back of the Smart Control System for power. If your power cord is plugged in and lights are not showing, check to see if your electrical outlet is connected to a light switch in the room.

  14. Lay the decking panels down and ensure the mattress connection points at each hip are available through the opening. The hose will be present on all FlexFit models. The foot warming wire will only be present on the FlexFit 3.
