This article shows you how to set up your Sleep Number® remote. Follow the instructions below for the type of remote you have.
- Sleep Number Smart Remote
- Sleep Number 360® smart 5 Button Remote
- Sleep Number 360® smart FlexFit™ Adjustable Base 10 or 12 Button Remote
- DualTemp™ Layer Remote
- FlexFit™ or FlexFit™ + Remote (Bases sold from 2012-2014)
- All other Sleep Number® remotes
Sleep Number Smart Remote
Before You Start
- Insert two AA batteries into the back of the remote.
- Make sure your bed is plugged in to a grounded wall outlet.
How to Pair Your Smart Remote
- Press and hold the favorite button on the side of the base or the pairing button on your smart control system if you have a mattress/integrated base.

If you've recently replaced your pump you'll need to do a Factory Reset to pair your remote. Watch Video: How to Factory Reset Your Sleep Number Remote
To get started insert two AA batteries into the back of the remote. Follow the guided setup instructions on the screen until you get to Setup Complete!
Before you start:
- Make sure your bed is plugged in to a grounded wall outlet.
- For Sleep Number bases: Make sure the detachable power cord is firmly connected at the head of the bed.
For Failure to Sync to the Firmness Control™ System (pump):
- Make sure the bed is plugged in.
- Check the power cord connection to the pump (shown below).
- Unplug and plug in the bed, select "Continue."

Before you start:
- Make sure your bed is plugged in to a grounded wall outlet.
- Locate your bed's Favorite button on the side of the bed. It has a Sleep Number logo, and is at hip level if you were laying on the bed.
- Select "Yes" when asked if your bed has a Sleep Number button at the hip. When prompted, press and hold down the Favorite button for 10 seconds until it starts to flash.

For failure to sync to the Firmness Control™ System (pump):
- Make sure the bed is plugged in. The Favorite button won't light up if the bed is unplugged.
- Check to make sure that the power cord and black wire connecting the base to the pump are plugged in, located under the bed at the sleeper left foot of the bed.
- Press and hold down the Favorite button again, until it starts blinking, select "Continue."
Sleep Number DualTemp™ Layer Remote
Note: Only use your DualTemp remote with your DualTemp Layer.
- Remove the batteries from the remote.
- Unplug and plug in the Heating and Cooling Fan.
- Important: Unplug and plug in the actual fan, not a surge protector or power strip.
- Within 60 seconds, insert two AA batteries.
- Name your remote, so you know which DualTemp Layer it controls.
- Wait 5 full minutes before pairing a second DualTemp Remote to the other side.
For failure to sync to the DualTemp™Layer:
- Make sure the connection to the DualTemp fan is plugged in with the flat side facing down.
- Check the connection to the power brick.
- Unplug and plug in, then select Continue to try again.

FlexFit™ or FlexFit™ + Remote (Bases sold from 2012-2014)
- Make sure the adjustable base is plugged in.
- Press and release the Learn Button on the side of your adjustable base power box.
- A red light will appear on the power box.
- At the same time press and hold the “Raise Head” and “Flat” remote buttons for 10 seconds, until the remote display blinks and the LED on the power box starts flashing.
- Release the remote buttons once the power box LED starts flashing slowly and then rapidly.

Sleep Number Universal Remotes
To get started insert two AA batteries into the back of the remote. Follow the guided setup instructions on the screen until you get to Setup Complete!
For failure to sync to the Firmness Control™ System (pump):
- Make sure the power cord is firmly connected to the pump under the bed.
- Unplug and plug in the power cord, select "Continue."
For failure to sync to the FlexFit™ Control System:
- The Red power switch on the Control System is illuminated red when turned on and plugged in.
- The detachable power cord should be securely attached to control system and plugged into a wall outlet
- We recommend plugging directly into the wall instead of using a surge protector to ensure that there is sufficient electrical current to the adjustable base.
- Unplug the FlexFit Control System for 20 seconds and plug back in, select Continue to try again.
Advanced Series Remote
- Remove the batteries from the remote.
- Unplug and plug in the Firmness Control System or Heating and Cooling Fan.
- Within 60 seconds, insert two AA batteries.
- Wait 1 full minute before pairing a second remote.
Innovation Series Remote
- Insert a 9 volt battery into your remote.
- Unplug and plug the Firmness Control system.
- Within 60 seconds, press R.
- Note: Press the Up arrow button if there is no R button.
