We recommend filling your air chambers and capping your mattress to keep your bed full of air while you wait for your replacement pump.
What you will need
- Air chamber caps. These would have been delivered with your bed and are sometimes placed inside the bed near the pump or head of the bed.
- If you can't locate them, visit your local store or order them online.
How to Cap Off Your Mattress
Capping instructions depend on what type of pump you have.
Not sure which pump you have?
Steps to inspect your bed vary by the location of your mattress hose connections. Hose connections can either be located on the side of your mattress (pictured below) or inside the mattress at the head of the bed. Check the sides of your bed for hose connections.
Next Steps:
- Stand on the side of the mattress and lift.
- Check to see if there is a hose connection on the underside (near the middle of the side).
- Tip: Look for a slit in the underside of the mattress and a hose connection exiting the slit.
- If there is no hose connection on either side, your hoses exit the mattress at the head of the bed.
- Locate your pump under the bed, near the head of the bed.
- Check to see if the hoses detach from the pump or not.
- Traditional Sleep Number pumps have hoses that do not detach from the pump.
- Sleep Number smart bed pumps have hoses that detach from the pump.
