Note: DualTemp™ is an optional temperature layer. Not every Sleep Number® bed has a DualTemp™ Layer.
Quick summary: Turn off and unplug the DualTemp™ Layer, remove bedding, disconnect the hoses and control unit, pack the remote, hoses, heating/cooling unit and cords safely, lift the layer off the mattress, then gently fold or roll it for transport. After moving, reconnect the system and test heating or cooling before putting bedding back on.
Follow these steps to protect your DualTemp™ Layer when moving your bed or rearranging your room.
Tip: For best results, have two people help move the layer.
Before you start
You’ll need:
- Two people, if possible
- A clean place to set the layer
- A bag or container for remotes and cords
- Enough time to disconnect and reconnect carefully
Step 1: Turn off and unplug
- Turn off the DualTemp™ Layer.
- Unplug the control unit from the outlet.
Step 2: Remove bedding
Remove:
- Blankets
- Sheets
- Mattress pads
- Protectors or toppers above the DualTemp™ Layer
Step 3: Detach Hoses
Push in the circular connector pin and gently pull to detach the connector hoses from the heating and cooling source.
Step 4: Pack remote, hoses and heating/cooling source
Pack them in a box with packing material to minimize shock and vibration in transport.
Important: Make sure cords are not pulled, pinched or wrapped tightly.
Step 5: Remove the DualTemp Layer from the mattress.
Some versions attach to the mattress with Secure Fit System Bands, flexible plastic pieces between the mattress and base. Detach the Secure Fit System Bands on each side and slide them out from between the mattress and base.
Step 6: Pack the DualTemp Layer.
Gently fold or roll the layer and double bag to prevent soiling during transport.
Reconnect after moving
- Place the DualTemp™ Layer flat on the mattress.
- Reconnect the control unit.
- Plug the unit into a working outlet.
- Turn the remote on.
- Test heating or cooling before making the bed.
