Set up your DualTemp™ layer
For setup steps specific to your model, see your DualTemp™ layer user guide.
What you'll need
- DualTemp™ layer
- Heating and cooling source
- Power supply
- Power cord
- Remote
- Batteries (included)
Assemble your DualTemp™ layer (3.0 or 3.5 models)
Applies to DualTemp™ units sold October 2017 to present
Important: Place your DualTemp™ layer on top of your mattress pad.
Step 1: Place the DualTemp™ layer on one side of your bed.
The buttons should be on the underside, facing the mattress, and the hose centered on the outer edge of the mattress.
Step 2: Locate the attachment flaps rolled up at each end of the layer.
Remove the tape from the attachment flaps and unroll to reveal fastener strips.
- NOTE: Fastener strips may grab and attach to other fabrics. Apply them only to the underside of the mattress to avoid snagging.
Step 3: Carefully tuck the attachment flaps at the head and foot of the layer under the mattress.
Firmly securing the fastener strips to the underside of the mattress at each end.
- NOTE: If you have a FlexFit® Adjustable Base, raise and lower the head and foot of the bed and adjust the layer’s fastener strips as needed to ensure a smooth, secure fit.
Step 4: Place the heating and cooling source on the floor next to your bed.
Remove the clear protective film from the face of the heating and cooling source.
- WARNING: Electrical shock hazard. Do not place, use or store in water or near extremely damp locations.
- CAUTION: The heating and cooling source has no user-serviceable parts. Do not open.
Step 5: Attach the layer's hose to the heating and cooling source.
Align the hole on top of the hose connector with the silver ball on top of the air outlet. Push together until the hose is securely connected.
Step 6: Check air hose for kinks.
For optimal airflow and performance, ensure that the hose is free of kinks by allowing the hose connector to swivel freely.
Step 7: Connect the power cord to the power supply.
Plug the power supply into the heating and cooling source with the flat side of the plug facing up. Plug the power cord directly into a grounded wall outlet. The power light will blink for one minute, then turn solid when connected.
- NOTE: Connect to properly grounded outlets only. Always plug the heating and cooling source directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. Never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip).
Step 8: Insert 2 AA batteries into the remote.
While the power light on the heating and cooling source is blinking, place two batteries in the remote. Follow the on-screen prompts to add your name.
- If you miss the light blinking, remove batteries, unplug and re-plug the power supply into the heating and cooling source, then reinsert the batteries.
- If necessary, pair the remote to the heating and cooling source by following screen instructions. Once connected, you’ll see a fan icon on the remote, and the heating and cooling source will power on.
Step 9: Repeat steps on other side.
If you are using a second DualTemp™ layer, wait five minutes to allow the system to connect. Then repeat steps 1-8 on the other side of the bed with the second layer. Make sure the light on the first power source is solid before setting up the second layer.
- IMPORTANT: Never stack two DualTemp™ layers on the same side of the bed.
Assemble your DualTemp™ layer (1.0, 1.1 and 1.5 models)
Applies to DualTemp™ units sold April 2013 to October 2017
Before putting the DualTemp™ layer on your mattress
Position the secure fit bands under your mattress to keep the layer firmly in place. This step varies depending on your base. If you have an adjustable base, raise the head and foot slightly so it’s easier to place the bands. When finished, return the base to the flat position.
-
Modular base or box spring, Queen or King Adjustable Base (2 long bands)
- Slide the first band under the mattress 38 inches from the head of the bed until the rigid portion of the band is centered under the mattress.
- Repeat with the second band, placing it 26 inches from the head of the bed.
-
FlexTop® King Adjustable Base (1 long band, 2 short bands)
- Slide the long band under the mattress 38 inches from the head of the bed until the rigid portion of the band is centered under the mattress.
- Slide one of the short bands under the width of the mattress 25 inches from the head of the bed until the rigid portion of the band is centered under one side of the mattress.
- Repeat with the second short band on the other side of the bed.
-
Split King Adjustable Base (4 short bands)
- Slide one of the bands under the width of the mattress 38 inches from the head of the bed until the rigid portion of the band is centered under one side of the mattress.
- Repeat with the second band, placing it 26 inches from the head of the bed.
- Repeat at both the 26- and 38-inch marks on the other side of the mattress.
Step 1: Place the DualTemp™ layer on your bed.
The hoses should point toward the head of the bed and the lighter gray side facing up.
Step 2: Secure the bands.
Use the metal loops on the DualTemp™ layer on each side of the mattress (and in the middle between each mattress for Split King and FlexTop® King mattresses).
Step 3: Place the heating and cooling source on the floor.
It should be next to or underneath your bed, on a level surface.
Step 4: Connect the power supply.
Plug it into a grounded outlet or surge protector.
Step 5: Attach the layer's hose to the heating and cooling source.
Align the round opening on the connector to the silver ball on top of the air outlet. Push together until you hear a click.
Step 6: Plug the power supply in.
The flat side of the plug should be facing down.
Step 7: Repeat steps on other side.
For Queen and King size beds, repeat steps 3-6 on the other side with the second heating and cooling source.
Place the heating and cooling source for best performance
Place under the middle of the bed:
- If your furniture is open with underbed clearance.
- NOTE: If you store items under your bed, ensure you have at least one foot of space around the heating and cooling source.
Place near the head of the bed:
- If your furniture is closed or goes completely to the floor with no underbed clearance.
- If you use a bed skirt.
