Requesting a return or exchange

Any permissible return under an applicable in-home trial policy or exchange policy must first be authorized by us.  No unauthorized returns are allowed.  Contact the Sleep Number® Customer Service Center at (800) 472-7185 to obtain a Return Service Order (RSO) number before returning any product to us.  Your authorized return must be received by us within 30 days. 

Once your authorized return has been completely received by us in a good and sanitary condition, we will reimburse the purchase price of the items being returned less any return shipping/delivery fees.  Unauthorized returns will be destroyed with no refund or credit given. 

You are responsible for the return shipping/delivery fees associated with returning or exchanging any product to us. The Home Delivery return fee is $249 plus tax. UPS labels are usually free, however, we charge $29.99 to return the following:

  • DualTemp™ layers returns and exchanges via mail, not in store.
  • S or R Series Mattress exchanges or returns.
  • Modular Base return or exchange.

Gift-with-Purchase Promotional Items

The full retail value of any gift-with-purchase promotional items will be deducted from any return refund unless such promotional items are also returned unless prohibited by law.

Refund timing

Qualified refunds are issued to the original method of payment within approximately 21 days. 

Exclusions/Final Sale

Certain Sleep Number® products are not subject to the In-Home Trial Policy, are not returnable and are final sale.  Listed below are the product-specific return/exchange policies that apply (if purchased): 

Adjustable Bases (FlexFit™ 1, FlexFit™ 2 and FlexFit™ 3)
Due to their unique handling and delivery requirements, all adjustable bases are excluded from any In-Home Trial Policy and are not returnable or exchangeable.  All sales of FlexFit™ adjustable bases are final.

Upholstered Furniture Collection:  All sales of products in the Upholstered Furniture Collection are final.  As these products are made-to-order items, your order of these items is not cancellable at any time after purchase.  These items are also not returnable or exchangeable.

Factory Outlet, Demo, Display, Clearance and Closeout Merchandise:  All sales of factory outlet, demo, display, clearance and closeout merchandise are final.  These sales are excluded from any In-Home Trial Policy that might otherwise accompany an identical product that is not a factory outlet, demo, display, clearance or closeout product.
