Can you wash your pillow?
Some pillows can be washed, while others should only be spot cleaned. Washing a pillow too often can break down the fill, and synthetic or down-alternative fill may bunch over time. To help protect your pillow between cleanings, use a pillow protector. If your pillow needs a deeper clean after illness or another concern, review our tips for disinfecting your pillow.

Bed pillows
PlushComfort™ pillow
- Refluff or shake as needed to maintain even distribution of fill.
- Machine wash warm with mild detergent in commercial-size front-loading washing machine. Tumble dry low for minimum 2-3 cycles to ensure filling is completely dry.
- Ultimate shape pillow: Remove cover and machine wash cover only.
ComfortFit™ pillow
- Curved and Classic shape pillows: Spot clean only.
- Ultimate shape pillow: Remove cover and machine wash cover only.
DownComfort™ pillow
- Refluff or shake as needed to maintain even distribution of fill.
- Machine wash warm on delicate cycle with mild detergent in commercial-size front-loading washing machine. Tumble dry low for minimum 2–3 cycles to ensure filling is completely dry. Remove promptly from dryer.
- Ultimate: Remove cover prior to washing.
True Temp™ pillow
- Remove cover and wash in warm water with mild detergent. Tumble dry on low.
- Foam insert: Spot clean foam insert with mild detergent and warm water; air dry at room temperature away from direct sunlight and heat.
ResponseFit™ pillow
- Care: Remove cover and wash in cold water on gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low heat.
- Foam insert: Spot clean with warm soapy solution and mild detergent. Do not saturate. Air dry.
AirFit® pillow
- Removable cover is machine washable.
Create Your Perfect Pillow™
Outer comfort pillow
- Down Alternative: Remove cover and wash separately in cold water with mild detergent; no chlorine bleach. Tumble dry low.
- Dual Comfort, ComfortFit™ and Foam: Spot clean only with warm and mild detergent. Air dry at room temperature away from direct sunlight and heat.
Inner support core
- Down Alternative: Wash separately in cold water with mild detergent; no chlorine bleach. Tumble dry low.
- Foam: Remove cover and wash cover separately in cold water with mild detergent. Tumble dry low. Foam: spot clean only with warm water. Air dry at room temperature away from direct sunlight and heat.
Specialty pillows
Cool ComfortFit™ body pillow
- Spot clean pillow. Machine wash in cold water with mild detergent. Tumble dry low.
Rest and Read™ pillow
- Remove pillow insert, spot clean only.
Adjustable wedge pillow
- Remove foam inserts and spot clean only.
- Machine wash cover in warm water with mild detergent on normal or permanent press cycle. Do not bleach. Tumble dry low.
Lumbar pillow
- Remove foam insert and spot clean only.
- Machine wash cover in warm water with mild detergent on normal or permanent press cycle. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach.
Bolster pillow
- Remove insert and wash cover in warm water with mild detergent on normal or permanent press cycle. Tumble dry low.
Knee pillow
- Remove foam insert and spot clean only.
- Machine wash cover in warm water with mild detergent on normal or permanent press cycle. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach.
Travel pillow
- Remove insert and wash cover only, inside-out, in warm water with mild detergent. Tumble dry low.
- Spot clean insert.
U-neck pillow
- Remove Down Alternative insert. Machine wash cover in warm water with mild detergent on normal or permanent press cycle. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach.
No Shift™ body pillow
- Machine wash cool, gentle cycle. Tumble dry low. Do not dry clean.
L-shaped pillow
- Cover: Machine wash in cold water with mild detergent. Tumble dry on low.
- Pillow: If needed, machine wash in a commercial-size front-loading washer, in water on delicate cycle. Tumble dry on low with clean tennis balls. Do not bleach, dry clean, iron, or steam.
Pillow Accessories
True Temp™ pillow protector
- Machine wash in cold water with mild detergent; tumble dry low on delicate. Do not iron. Do not use fabric softeners or dryer sheets. For best results, use large capacity washer and dryer.
Cotton pillow protector
- Machine wash in warm water. Tumble dry at low heat. Remove promptly for best results.
Pillow tote
- Machine wash cold. Do not bleach. Tumble dry low. Do not iron.
