  5. Cover the base with the included coverlet.

The Modular Base can be used inside most bed frames or paired with Sleep Number® legs and brackets.

Before You Begin

What you'll need

  • Sleep Number® Modular Base components
  • Optional legs and brackets (if purchased)
  • A flat, open area for assembly

Assembly Tips

  • Assemble all components before placing your mattress on the base.
  • Make sure all pieces are fully seated and aligned before moving to the next step.
  • Do not force parts together. Components are designed to fit snugly.

Step 1: Connect the Side Rails

  1. Connect the short and long side rails.
  2. Push the rails together firmly until fully seated.
  3. Insert the locking pins by sliding them into the side rails.
  4. Confirm the top of each pin is flush with the top of the rail.

Tip: A tight fit helps create a stable foundation for your mattress.

Step 2: Attach Modular Base Legs and Brackets (Optional)

If you purchased Sleep Number® legs or headboard/footboard brackets, install them now.

IMPORTANT: Check all wing nuts 2 to 3 days after assembly and retighten if needed.

To attach legs and brackets

  1. Locate the mounting holes in the side rail.
  2. Insert the bolt through:
    • Bracket
    • Side rail
    • Leg
  3. Place the washer on the bolt with the cupped side facing the leg.
  4. Thread the wing nut onto the bolt and hand-tighten.
  5. Repeat for all remaining legs and brackets.

  2. Slide each deck panel onto the frame.
  3. Lock each panel onto the frame tabs and support beams.
  4. Continue until all panels are installed.

Verify Proper Installation
