Sleep Number® Adjustable Base Underbed Light Not Working

Quick answer: If the underbed light on your Sleep Number® adjustable base will not turn on, first check the remote batteries, Remote Lock, and base power. If those checks do not solve the problem, inspect the underbed light cable for a loose connection or damage.

This guide applies to Sleep Number adjustable bases with a remote sold in 2026 or later.

  2. Turn off Remote Lock. If the backlight flashes three times when you press a button, press and hold the Lock button for five seconds.

Step 1: Unplug and move the base safely

Two adults are required. Do not try to lift or hold the base by yourself.

  1. Adjust both sides of the bed to a Sleep Number setting of 100.
  2. Unplug the base from the wall outlet.
  3. Disconnect the air hoses and cap both air chambers.
  4. Remove the mattress straps, then lift the mattress off the base.
  5. King size bases: Remove the bed links at the head and foot of the base.
  6. With one adult on each side, carefully place the base on its side. One person must hold it steady while the other person checks the connections.
