Why update your smart bed remote?
- Updates can improve connectivity, performance, and battery life.
- When your remote software is current, it is more likely to stay connected and work as expected.
- If your remote is not updating, this article gives you a clear place to start and what to do next.
How to update your remote
When your bed is online, the remote update should start automatically when the remote goes into sleep mode following use.
Before you start
- Insert fresh batteries in the remote.
- Keep the remote close to the bed or pump during the update.
- Do not move or use the remote until the update finishes.
- Make sure the bed stays plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi during the update.
Steps
- Set down the remote, allow it to go into sleep mode.
Most updates take about 5 to 30 minutes, depending on your bed's Wi-Fi connection. During that time, you can use the Sleep Number® app if you need to adjust your bed.
How to confirm your remote updated
To check your remote software version, go to System, then About System. Compare the version shown on your remote to the latest version listed in this article when available. If your remote is stuck updating, does not finish, or keeps spinning, first make sure your bed is online, then follow the troubleshooting steps below.
Troubleshooting: remote update failed, stuck, or keeps spinning
- Confirm the bed is online and connected to Wi-Fi.
- Unplug the bed from the wall for 20 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Wait 2 minutes for the pump to power up fully.
- Remove the remote batteries for 10 seconds, then reinsert them.
- When the remote wakes up, check that the Bluetooth icon is no longer flashing and the battery icon shows good battery life.
- Place the remote near the bed, let it fall asleep, and allow the update to run overnight.
If the update still does not finish by the next morning, contact support by phone or chat. If your remote has connection drops or does not stay paired, replace the batteries first, then restart the bed and try again.
