Overview
- Getting your bed online ensures you can start taking advantage of all the benefits of your new smart bed on the very first night.
- This also allows you to control your bed with the Sleep Number® app.
- The Sleep Number® app will guide you through the process step by step.
What you will need
- A Sleep Number® smart bed compatible device.
- Remote only customers: The Sleep Number® app is required for getting your bed online. Follow how to download the Sleep Number® app to get your bed online.
- Download the Sleep Number® app available on the App Store for iOS devices and the Google Play Store for Android devices.
- Your Sleep Number® smart bed registered to your account.
- Your home Wi-Fi network name and password.
Before you start
- Make sure your bed is fully assembled and connected to a power source.
- Go to your device Settings and turn on Bluetooth and enable location services for the Sleep Number® app.
- Stay within 8 feet of your bed until your bed is online.
- Visit the App Store or Google Play Store and search for the Sleep Number® app to get the latest version.

How to check if your bed is online
- Log into the Sleep Number® app.
- Tap "Smart Bed" and then the "Settings" icon (upper right).
- Your app will tell you if your bed needs to be paired, is online, or offline. Three green dots indicate your bed is online and paired to your device via Bluetooth. If the app says your bed is Offline, continue to the next steps.
Getting online for the first time

With a FlexFit® adjustable smart base
- Download the Sleep Number® app and register your smart bed if you have not done so already.
- Open the Sleep Number® app and log in.

Go to "Smart Bed" and tap "Finish Setup." This may take 5-10 minutes.

Confirm your bed is fully assembled and no one is on the bed during the process. Select "Continue."

Press and hold the Favorite Button on the side of the bed until the light flashes blue.
- Select "Start Pairing" in the Sleep Number® app.

The app will display the bed name that it is trying to pair to.

- Wait for the bed to configure.

Confirm you want to connect the smart bed and tap "Allow." The Sleep Number® app will go through the "Configuring the bed" and "Inflating the bed" steps on its own.
- Connect your smart bed to Wi-Fi.
- If you do not see your network listed, you may want to move your router closer to your bed or reference our compatibility requirements.
- If your Wi-Fi network contains special characters, you may have trouble getting online. We recommend changing your network name if this happens.
- Wi-Fi passwords are case sensitive.
- Stay next to your bed until everything is complete. If you are having trouble getting online, find additional help on our Trouble Getting Online article.
- Once setup is complete, you will have the opportunity to 'Run Quick System Test' to make sure everything is connected just right. This will take about 5 minutes to complete.

It is not required and you can always run it anytime under the 'Settings' menu.

Without a FlexFit® adjustable smart base
- Download the Sleep Number® app and register your smart bed if you have not done so already.
- Open the Sleep Number® app and log in.

Go to "Smart Bed" and tap "Finish Setup." This may take 5 to 10 minutes.

Confirm your bed is fully assembled and no one is on the bed during the process. Select "Continue."

Press and hold the pairing button on the Smart Control system (pump) until the light starts flashing yellow.
- Select "Start Pairing" in the Sleep Number® app.

The app will display the bed name that it is trying to pair to.

- Wait for the bed to configure.

Confirm you want to connect the smart bed and tap "Allow." The app will go through the "Configuring the bed" and "Inflating the bed" on its own.
- Connect the smart bed to Wi-Fi.

With any base

Remain within 8 feet of the bed for the Sleep Number® app to begin bed pairing.

Confirm your bed is fully assembled and no one is on the bed during the process. Select "Continue."

Your mobile device will scan for available beds. Select the bed you are connecting to by verifying the MAC address matches what is on the label of the pump. Press "Yes, they match" to continue.

The Sleep Number® app will go through the "Inflating the bed" step on its own and begin to scan for available Wi-Fi networks.
- Connect the smart bed to Wi-Fi.
- If you do not see your network listed, you may want to move your router closer to your bed or reference our compatibility requirements.
- If your Wi-Fi network contains special characters " or ', you may have trouble getting online. We recommend changing your network name if this happens.
- Wi-Fi passwords are case sensitive.

Get another bed online (for customers with more than one bed)
If you have already registered your new smart bed
- Open the Sleep Number® app.
- Tap "Smart Bed."
- In the upper left corner, select the bed you want to get online.
- Tap the "Settings" icon in the upper right corner.
- Tap "Connectivity" and update your Wi-Fi settings by tapping "Change Wi-Fi."
- Make sure that you and your device with the app stays next to your bed until the process is complete.
If you have not already registered your new smart bed
- Open the Sleep Number® app.
- Tap "Profile."
- Tap "Account" in the upper right corner.
- Scroll down to the "My Orders" section.
- Once you open your orders, tap "Complete Registration."
- Once your new smart bed is registered, follow the steps above to get your smart bed online.
Bed offline after changing network or router
- Open the Sleep Number® app and log in if needed.
- Tap "Smart Bed."
- Tap the bed settings icon in the top right corner.
- Select "Connectivity" and "Change Wi-Fi" to update your Wi-Fi network information.
- The app will scan for your Wi-Fi network. When prompted, select your Wi-Fi network, and enter your Wi-Fi password.
- Note: If you do not see your network listed, make sure your router is within 40 feet of your bed and your internet service is connected.
- If your Wi-Fi network password contains special characters, you may have trouble getting online. We recommend changing your password if this happens.
- Wi-Fi passwords are case sensitive.
- If the Wi-Fi network name contains an apostrophe ('), it may cause a connection issue. For these situations, we recommend changing the network name on the Wi-Fi router so it does not include this character.
- Sleep Number® 360 smart beds do not support WPA-3 Wi-Fi networks. If you've moved and your new router uses WPA-3 only security, your bed will not be able to connect.
- Stay next to your bed until everything is complete. If you're having trouble getting online, find additional help with Trouble Getting Online.
Bed Offline: Replacement Pump
When you receive a new pump, you must go through the process of installing replacement electronics in the Sleep Number® app to get your bed back online.
How to get your bed back online after pump installation
- Turn Bluetooth on in your device settings. Stay within 8 feet of your bed while pairing.
- Tap "Smart Bed." If you have multiple beds, make sure you select the correct bed.
- Tap the bed "Settings" icon in the top right corner.
- Select "Install Replacement Electronics" and follow the prompts within the app.
If your bed does not come online
- Perform a power cycle on your bed by unplugging your bed for 60 seconds. Climate360, ComfortNext™ and Sleep Number smart bed customers can go through the Sleep Number® app and choose "Restart Bed." Follow Troubleshooting with Smart Bed Diagnostics.
- Plug your bed back in.
- After the bed fully reboots (takes 2-3 minutes), go to "Settings and Support" in the Sleep Number® app.
- Tap "Smart Bed Settings & Support."
- Tap "Install Replacement Electronics."
- If you are having trouble getting online, find additional help with Trouble Getting Online.
My bed was online and now it is not
- Check connections to the Firmness/Smart Control system (exclude hoses).
- Perform a power cycle on your bed by unplugging your bed for 60 seconds. Climate™ Series, ComfortNext™, and Sleep Number® smart bed customers can go through the Sleep Number® app and choose 'Restart Bed'. Follow Troubleshooting with Smart Bed Diagnostics.
- If there is still and issue, go to Trouble Getting Online.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my bed have to be online?
- Your bed does not need to be online to adjust your Sleep Number® setting or FlexFit® adjustable base.
- Getting your bed online is required if you want your bed to track your sleep or if you want to use Responsive Air® technology.
- You can pause sleep session tracking at any time by using the Privacy Mode feature.

Can I get my bed online without the Sleep Number app?

- We recommend purchasing a remote if your device does not meet the requirements for Sleep Number technology and you do not plan to upgrade your device before your bed arrives.
