SmartTemp™ Programs are available with Climate™ Collection mattresses and Sleep Number® mattresses paired with a FlexFit® 3 Adjustable Base.
What Are SmartTemp™ Programs?
SmartTemp™ Programs automatically adjust temperature on the days and settings you choose. Each sleeper creates and manages their own programs in the Sleep Number® app and can set different programs for different days of the week. The remote supports manual temperature adjustments only.
Tips for Better Performance
- Allow 30 minutes for foot warming to heat up.
- Blankets will help trap the cooling and heating.
- Avoid placing more than a mattress pad and fitted sheet over the top of the mattress.
How Do I Set Up a SmartTemp™ Program?
Before You Start
- Log in to the Sleep Number app using your own credentials. Programs are linked to the individual sleeper.
- If you do not have your own login, add a sleeper profile before setting up a program.
Steps
- Open the Sleep Number® app and log in with your own credentials.
- Select Smart Bed.
- Scroll to SmartTemp™ Programs.
- Choose a program or create a custom program.
- Select the days you want the program to run.
- Select Set Program to save your changes. Select Cancel to leave without saving.
How Do SmartTemp™ Warming and Cooling Programs Work?

If you select core warming for the falling asleep segment, warming begins 30 minutes before the scheduled program start time.

If you select core cooling for the falling asleep segment, cooling begins when you get into bed.

Foot Warming begins 30 minutes before the scheduled program start time, then cools down after you get into bed following the start time.

If you do not get into bed within two hours of the program start time, the program stops for the night.
Changing a temperature setting while a program is running overrides the program for that night. The program continues as scheduled on future nights.
Edit or Delete a SmartTemp™ Program
Edit a program
- Select the program you want to change.
- Make your updates.
- Select Set Program to save your changes.
Note: Changes to an existing program may not take effect until the next scheduled day.
Delete a program
- Open the program you want to remove.
- Select the trash icon in the upper-right corner, then confirm that you want to delete the program.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use SmartTemp™ Programs from my remote?
No. SmartTemp™ Programs can only be managed in the Sleep Number® app. The remote supports manual temperature adjustments.
Can each sleeper have a different SmartTemp™ Program?
Yes. Each sleeper can create and manage programs using their own Sleep Number® app login.
Can I create different programs for different days?
Yes. You can create different programs for different days of the week.
When does core warming start?

Yes. Customers with multiple Sleep Number® beds can control SmartTemp™ Programs without creating a second login for the other bed or beds.
Which beds support Foot Warming?
Foot Warming is available on Climate360® mattresses and Sleep Number® mattresses paired with a FlexFit® 3 smart adjustable base.
Will SmartTemp™ Programs work with a legacy adjustable base?
If a Sleep Number® smart mattress is paired with a legacy adjustable base (sold prior to 2018), the SmartTemp™ Program may not work as designed.
