The information below outlines the minimum requirements to use the Sleep Number app and get your bed online. The Sleep Number app and a Wi-Fi connection are required to get your bed online and use its smart features.
The Sleep Number app is available for iOS and Android devices.
We recommend running the latest software version available for your device. If you are running an older software version, you may experience performance issues with the Sleep Number app and other apps.
The Sleep Number app is compatible with newer iPhones and iPads running iOS 14 or later.
Turn on Bluetooth in your device settings and turn Bluetooth on for the Sleep Number app in your device privacy settings. This gives the Sleep Number app permission to pair your bed.
The Sleep Number app is compatible with most Android phones and tablets equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 and running Android 9 or later.
Turn on Bluetooth in your device settings and turn on location services for the Sleep Number app.
Location services must be enabled to allow the Sleep Number app to pair with your bed.
In some cases, on specific phones, the Bluetooth stack can get stuck in a bad state, and state and may need to be re-started by the user by turning Bluetooth on and off and back on.
The Sleep Number app does not work with Kindle or Windows tablets and has inconsistent performance with Motorola devices.

Wi-Fi Compatibility Requirements
SleepIQ technology requires a Wi-Fi connection to get your bed online. If your bed is not online, certain features of your smart bed will not be available and will not work properly.
For the best experience, check your router settings to ensure your internet service and wireless access point meets these requirements.

Wi-Fi networks not compatible with SleepIQ® Technology
Mobile hotspots: Using a mobile hotspot is not recommended. This can result in interrupted connections and inaccurate sleep data. Your smart bed works best with a 24/7 internet connection.
5.0 GHz Wi-Fi networks: Some SleepIQ technology devices are not compatible with 5 GHz Wi-Fi, however, all are compatible with 2.4 GHz. The Sleep Number app will only display acceptable available networks.Captive portal networks: Captive portal networks require you to sign in on a web page before connecting a device to the internet. This type of network is common in coffee shops and hotels. SleepIQ technology is a browserless device and therefore not directly compatible with captive portal networks. Contact your internet service provider to see if they are able to add your Sleep Number smart bed as a browserless device.
Frequently Asked Questions
Amazon's Alexa and Google Home are not able to control your Sleep Number smart bed. The Sleep Number app does not connect with either of these devices.

- A 2.4 GHz network may have "24G," "2.4," or "24" appended to the end of the network name. For example: "Myhomenetwork2.4."
- A 5 GHz network may have "5G" or "5" appended to the end of the network name, for example, "Myhomenetwork5."
- Sometimes the 2.4G network won’t have anything after it, but the 5Ghz network will, for example, “Myhomenetwork” and “Myhomenetwork-5G.”
When scanning for Wi-Fi networks, the Sleep Number app will only detect 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz networks that are compatible with your smart bed.If your network is not displaying it may not meet compatibility requirements or the signal strength may be too low for your bed to get online or stay online. Moving your wireless access point closer to your bedroom or upgrading to a Wi-Fi mesh system, then rescanning for Wi-Fi networks is a good way to ensure you have sufficient signal strength to connect.
SleepIQ technology requires a strong Wi-Fi connection near your bed. Most routers are compatible with SleepIQ technology, but for the best connection experience, we recommend a router that is less than 5 years old and in close proximity to your bed.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, a poor Wi-Fi connection could be your problem. We recommend upgrading to a Wi-Fi 6 compatible access point or later than has been certified by Wi-Fi Alliance to improve the signal strength available to your bed.
Symptoms of Poor Wi-Fi signal strength:
- Your Wi-Fi network is not found by the Sleep Number app.
- Sometimes the Sleep Number app finds your network, sometimes it doesn’t.
- Your bed fails to connect to Wi-Fi during Sleep Number app pairing.
- Your bed occasionally drops offline and may have trouble connecting back to the internet or server.
