Applies to: Beds purchased between 2017 and 2026, with a Firmness Control™ System, and magnet attach. Remote can be 5-, 10-, or 12-button.
When You Need to Reset Your Remote
Required if:
- You replaced the Firmness Control™ System
Before You Start
- Keep your remote with you during setup.
- Make sure your bed is plugged in.
- Follow each prompt on the remote screen.

1. Start a Factory Reset
- On your remote, go to:
Home → System → Settings → Reset Preferences → Factory Reset - Select Yes to confirm.
2. Confirm Setup Details

Second or replacement remote?
Select No, then press Enter. -
Does your bed have a Sleep Number® button at the hip?
Select Yes, then press Enter.
3. Put the Bed in Pairing Mode
- Locate the Sleep Number button on the base (at the hip).
- Press and hold the button until it starts blinking.
- On your remote, select Continue.
Tip:
“At the hip” means where your hip rests when lying in bed.
4. Reset the FlexFit Control System
- Unplug the FlexFit Control System from the wall outlet.
- Plug it back in.
Important:
Do not unplug the cord from the base—only from the wall.
5. Skip Optional Steps
- When asked to unplug the DualTemp™ system, select Skip, then press Enter.
6. Continue Setup
- Follow the prompts on your remote.
If asked to name your bed/input name:
- Select No (you can set this later).
7. If You See an Error
- Blue Sleep Server error screen, press Enter twice to continue.
8. Complete Pairing
- Continue following instructions on the remote.
- Reference the 360 Remote or Traditional Silver Remote steps if prompted to rename your remote.
- Finish when you see “Set Up Complete!”
5-Button Factory Remote Reset
1. Start a Factory Reset
- On your remote, go to Home → System → Settings → Reset Preferences → Factory Reset
- Select Yes to confirm reset.
2. Confirm Setup Details
Follow the on-screen questions:

Select No, then press Enter.
3. Reset the Firmness Control™ System
- Unplug your Firmness Control™ System.
- Plug it back in.
- Select Continue on your remote.
4. Skip Optional Steps
- When asked to unplug the FlexFit™ Control System -> Select Skip, then press Enter.
- When asked about the DualTemp™ system -> Select Skip, then press Enter.
5. Follow Setup Prompts
- Continue following the on-screen instructions.
- Your system will reconnect and complete setup.
6. If You See an Error
- Blue Sleep Server error screen, press Enter twice to continue.
7. Finish Setup
- Follow prompts until you see “Set Up Complete!”
Your remote has been reset and is ready to use.

Reset didn’t work?
- Repeat the reset steps from the beginning.
- Make sure all prompts are answered exactly as shown above.
Seeing an error screen?
Most setup errors can be safely skipped using Enter.
