Doorstep Delivery: How to Assemble a ComfortMode™ Mattress
Materials List
Make sure you have all required components before beginning:
- Mattress
- Firmness Control System or Core Tech System
- Remote
Note: It is normal to see small slits on the bottom of the cover. That is by design so air hoses can pass through and connect to air chambers when the bed is used with a Sleep Number base.
Step 1: Set Up the Pump
Connect the hoses and power cord to the pump. Place the pump on the floor at the head of the bed.
Important: 2 pumps can support this bed.
Step 2: Route the Hoses through the base
Skip this step if you do not have an adjustable base.
Guide the hoses through the Velcro straps along the base and exit them through the hip opening.
Step 3: Position the Mattress
Remove the mattress from the bag and locate the product (law) label. With two people, place the mattress sleep-surface down, with the head of the mattress at the foot of the bed frame or base.
Step 4: Secure the Mattress Straps
Skip this step if you do not have an adjustable base.
Insert the mattress straps into the designated slits in the mattress cover.
Step 5: Flip and Align the Mattress
Skip this step if you do not have an adjustable base.
Flip the mattress right-side up and center it on the base. Ensure the law label is located at the head of the bed.
Step 6: Attach the Mattress to your Sleep Number® Adjustable Base
Skip this step if you do not have an adjustable base.
Complete the base-to-mattress connections on both hips of the bed:
- Route straps through the base attach plate
- Snap straps into place at the hips and foot
Strap Orientation
- Black straps: Point toward the center gap, button opening facing up
- Light gray straps: Point toward the foot of the bed, button opening facing up
Step 7: Connect the Hoses
Attach the hoses to the mattress. You should feel and hear a click when they are properly connected.
Step 8: Power and Pair the System
- Insert two AA batteries into the remote
- Plug the pump into a power outlet
- Follow the on-screen prompts to pair the remote
Moving Your ComfortMode Mattress: How to Disassemble
Follow these steps when moving or preparing the mattress for transport.
Step 1: Fully Inflate the Mattress
Set both sides of the mattress to 100 firmness using your remote.
Step 2: Disconnect the Hoses
Detach the hoses and attach the white closure caps.
Step 3: Unclip the Strap System
Skip this step if you do not have an adjustable base.
- Unclip gray straps at the hips (1 per side) and foot (2 total)
- Split King models have four foot straps
- If applicable, unclip black straps at the head of the bed
Step 4: Pack for Transport
- Place the mattress in a protective bag
- Disconnect and box the pump for safe transport
Moving Your ComfortMode Mattress: How to Reassemble
Step 1: Feed hose through base opening at hip.
Skip this step if you do not have an adjustable base.
Step 2: Remove white air chamber cap(s) and connect hoses to chamber(s).
- Push until you hear or feel them click into place.
Step 3: Attach mattress to base.
Skip this step if you do not have an adjustable base.
Straps Attach System:
- Reconnect the grey straps at the hip (1 per side) and then at the foot (2). Split Kings have four (4) foot straps.
- Feed the strap under the bar and pull until the button aligns with its receiver. Press down until the button is connected.
- If you have a Split King, stand on either side of the bed and have one person manually lift a decking panel to access the strap snap receiver. Pull the black strap tightly and snap into the snap receiver on the underside of the decking panel. Repeat on the other side.
Step 4: Place pump on the floor towards the head of the bed.
Step 5: Plug in the power cord for the pump to a power outlet.
