Doorstep Delivery: Assembling Your Smart Mattress
Step 1: Unpack and position the mattress
- Remove the mattress from the outer bag and locate the product label
- With two people, place the mattress sleep‑surface side down
- Align the head of the mattress at the foot of the bed frame
- Remove the mattress bag completely
Note: It is normal to see small slits on the bottom of the cover. That is by design so air hoses can pass through and connect to air chambers when the bed is used with a Sleep Number base.
Step 2: Unzip your mattress (Mattress Only or FlexFit® 3)
Skip this step if you purchased a Foundation/Integrated Base, FlexFit 1 or 2
Mattress Only
Step 1: Open the Mattress Cover
- Locate the zipper along the mattress edge and unzip fully.
- Fold the cover in thirds toward the foot of the bed to expose the foam layer.
Step 2: Route the air hoses
- At the foot of the bed, locate the horizontal slit in the mattress cover.
- Insert the air hoses one at a time through the slit:
- Blue hose: Right sleeper (bed‑label side)
- White hose: Left sleeper
- Feed enough hose through so each reaches its side without stretching or twisting.
Step 3: Connect the air hoses
- Remove the white plastic air chamber cap.
- Firmly connect the hose to the air chamber.
- Repeat for the opposite side of the bed.
Step 4: Close the Mattress Cover (important safety step)
- Zip the mattress cover closed.
WARNING:
- To ensure compliance with federal and state flammability requirements, the border wrap must be positioned correctly with the mattress as shown. The border wrap must be positioned over the foam/air chamber and remain flat during zipping.
FlexFit 3
- Unzip the mattress cover
- Route the foot‑warming wires through the designated cutout
- Once routed, zip the cover closed
Step 3: Identify and insert mattress straps (Adjustable Bases Only)
Skip this step if you did not purchase an Adjustable or FlexFit Base
