FlexFit™ smart adjustable base

Before You Begin

  • Do not attempt to take your Sleep Number Smart Bed apart further than the steps shown.
  • This is a two-person job.
  • You'll need a set of white closure caps. These can be found near your pump at the foot of the bed.
  • If you cannot locate your caps, you can pick them up from your local store or you can order them online. Moving the mattress without the white closure caps can damage your bed in transit.

WARNING: Some Sleep Number Smart Beds with a FlexFit™ Smart Base have magnets that emit a strong magnetic field when the mattress or magnets are detached from the base.

  • To minimize the risk of a pinch injury, keep magnets away from each other and away from other metal objects.
  • When a mattress is not attached to a base, such as when transported or serviced, persons with medical implants should stay a minimum of 3 feet away from the magnets.
  • Strong magnetic fields can damage electronics, electronic/magnetic storage devices, AV equipment, bank/credit/debit cards, etc.
  • When the mattress is attached to its base, the magnetic field is less than 5 Gauss at any distance and is considered safe for all persons.

Disassemble Your Bed

  1. Fill the mattress to 100 on both sides.
  2. Disconnect the hoses from your mattress and attach the white closure caps.
  3. If you have foot warming connections: Disconnect foot warming connections, located near hose connections.
  4. Detach your mattress.

    • Strap attach system: Follow these steps.
      1. Disconnect the grey straps under the mattress at the hip (1 per side) and then at the foot (2). Split King models have four (4) foot straps.
      2. If you have a FlexTop or Split King, disconnect the black straps under the mattress at the head of the bed.
  5. Bag your mattress.
  6. Disconnect and box your pump.

Disassemble Your Base

  1. (King, California King, FlexTop™ and Split King sizes only) Separate your bases.
    • Disconnect the right side cable and left side cable from each other.
    • Disconnect the right to left bed frame link at the head and foot of the bed.

      • Straps Attach System: Follow these steps.
        1. Reconnect the grey straps at the hip (1 per side) and then at the foot (2). Split King and FlexTop  have four (4) foot straps.
        2. Feed the strap under the bar and pull until the button aligns with its receiver. Press down until the button is connected.
        3. If you have a FlexTop or Split King, stand on either side of the bed and have one person manually lift a decking panel to access the strap snap receiver. Pull the black strap tightly and snap into the snap receiver on the underside of the decking panel. Repeat on the other side.
